Road Dog Reviews and Quotes
“Known for his harmonica blowouts Mark Hummel is indeed a road dog – and this is his best album so far – and he has plenty of good help – the super solid rhythm section Wes Starr on drums, Kedar Roy on bass, and the way, exceptional keyboard work of Bob Welsh. The guitars are outstanding Anson Funderburgh, Junior Watson, Little Charlie and Rusty Zinn are all names that will ring a bell with all blues fans. The harp playing is strong all the way through and Mark‘s vocals reflect quality influences – Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, etc. My favorite cuts are “Why Did It Happen”and the rarely heard Jimmy Reed tune “When You’re Doing All Right”. Clean strong production by Kid Andersen- I think Mark’s got a winner here.”

“Mark Hummel and friends have dug deep into the blues on the excellent Road Dog, absorbing their influences and creating an outstanding session based on their traditional blues heritage. It stands on its own as simply great music from the blues highway.”
